Bottinelli Suspended for a Game

Yesterday it was made public that Dario Bottinelli will not play on Saturday against Monterrey. This was decided after Bottinelli received his fifth yellow card in the tournament against Tecos. This will be Bottinelli’s second pause from play as he was expelled during Atlas’ game with Cruz Azul.
In his defense Bottinelli said “Unfortunately I can’t play on Saturday and hopefully whichever teammate replaces will do so in a good capacity. Hopefully my absence will not be felt.” Which is a kind of a passive aggressive way of saying “I hope they don’t regret benching me.” But in the era of prima donnas I commend Atlas for sticking to their rules and even though Bottinelli has been very successful as a striker, they’re showing him that the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the one in the back.
Bottinelli has become the bad boy of the Primera Division, being the most carded player, having being carded with 5 yellows, 1 red, and another yellow outside of regulation time, which I’m still trying to figure out how he managed to do.
Lastly Bottinelli said that he’s been very good about being carded, never arguing with the refs or trying to appeal to heavily about any one card. I guess practice makes perfect.
