Marioni Out of Atlas
By: Alan | May 29th, 2008
President Fernando Acosta said that the team is sad at not being able to reach an agreement with forward Bruno Marioni. Acosta said that for their part the team offered a 33% increase in pay, but that unfortunately it didn’t match the offers that Marioni has received from elsewhere.
This really sucks for a number of reasons, however I don’t want to use numbers, so I’ll just list them a) Marioni had stated earlier that he wanted to stay with Atlas; well apparently by want he meant he wanted more money from Atlas. That’s enough of the list. The reason I am mad is because Marioni was a good player and with the leave of first Guardado and then Marioni Atlas is beginning to turn into that girl you date so other hotter girls will see you’re wanted and will date you.
On a happier note, Atlas is calling back Lucas Barrios from Colo Colo. Barrios was the leading scorer in the Chilean soccer league and hopefully he will be able to take Marioni’s spot as a finisher.
The club president said a more complete transfer picture will come in about two weeks, after the team can asses their needs.

Any idea where Marioni is going? MLS? I’d have trouble thinking that would be the only people interested in him.
And I highly doubt he’d get the money he wants from a team in Argentina, so a return there would be out of the question unless he just wanted to leave anyway.

Most of the big offers are coming from outside of Mexico. Other than the MLS I heard the league in Qatar, had to look up where it is, is making a strong bid for him.

I just heard tonight that he signed for Pachuca. I guess he was more interested in the money rather than being faithful to the club. But man, what a signing for Pachuca.
