Olympic Goal

By: Alan | May 10th, 2008

I don’t know if everyone is familiar with the “Olympic Goal” so in case you aren’t, allow Juan Carlos Medina to show you the way:

An olympic goal is when you score from the corner kick, and Juan Carlos Medina pulled of an olympic goal to help tie the first leg of the run-off game for a spot in the liguilla. The next game will be tomorrow in the Estadio Victoria.

Atlas have the momentum because they were the last to score, and scored in impressive fashion. However, they will be playing away and Necaxa beat Atlas in their regular season game 1-0. Fatigue might also be a factor for an Atlas team that is not only competing in the domestic tournament but is also still involved in the Copa Libertadores. Coach Brindisi has said that he might have to let some of the starters rest up and start on the bench.

Regardless of all these things look for Atlas to play attacking ball on Sunday. Atlas hasn’t won the Mexican tournament since 1951 and the players are so close to silverware they can taste it. But before the dreams of tournament victory start dominating players’ sleep, they need to beat Necaxa and earn their spot in.

My Prediction: Atlas 3 – 2 Necaxa
FIFA 08 Prediction: Atlas 2 – 1 Necaxa
