On a Mission

I saved off writing a post about Atlas’ elimination from the domestic tournament until Atlas had played their first game against Boca Juniors because I didn’t want to write bad news.
The good thing is that Atlas gave me some good news to write about, a 2-2 tie away in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter finals. This forces Boca Juniors to win in el Estadio Jalisco, which hasn’t been an easy feat for visiting teams. In the tournament, Atlas is undefeated at home and has outscored their opponents 12-2, with only one draw. In other words, Atlas is a very strong home team. Last time Boca Juniors played in Guadalajara they were handed a 3-1 defeat.
Since Atlas were eliminated by Necaxa (in a tie, pshh) from the domestic tournament, all of their focus is now on the Copa Libertadores. With their elimination from the domestic tournament, the players will have more time to rest between games as this has been a long season for Atlas who have competed in multiple tournaments.
Boca Juniors has surprised as the visiting team before, so Atlas must play smart, however, as things stand now they do have the advantage.
