Player Signings
By: Alan | June 7th, 2009
Atlas has two new confirmed signings. Midfielder Miguel Zepeda and forward Daniel Osorno now have full contracts with Atlas and will be seen on the pitch starting with the InterLiga.
Miguel Zepeda is from Tepic, Nayarit and is very excited to join the club, the board looks at him as something of a prodigal son. Zepeda himself commented on his signing “I’ve come to succeed, I’ve come for the fans, I’ve come for what Atlas represents, for what it means to me, Atlas is my home and it’s good to be home.”
Zepeda had one of the easiest contract negotiations, “In my situation there wasn’t much to discuss, there were wishes, I want to play here, since last year I’ve tried and now that I have the opportunity I’m very excited to be playing for Atlas.”
Daniel Osorno has agreed to a verbal two year contract and will be reporting to Atlas to sign a contract later on in the week, more news when it becomes official.
Given the names put on the transfer list and these two signings it seems coach La Volpe’s team is counting on experience and players that come through the Atlas system. Personally I think this is the best way to go with a team, Atlas is still teasing with relegation and I think that keeping a core group of guys that will play with the boat going down is the best way to do make sure Atlas stays both in the first division, and maybe, just maybe gets some silverware.

I’m glad they’re using their cantera players. What kind of worries me is Daniel Osorno.. he left because the coaches at Atlas didn’t have confidence in him, although he always had the skill. In today’s merry-go-round system I dont think this is the best move for his future. I hope I’m proven wrong.

im a huge osorno fan from his younger days but nothing is really going to come out of this. im definitely not expecting miracles. this is about the kind of penny pinching move id expect them to make.
