Preview: Atlas vs. Cruz Azul
By: Alan | August 1st, 2008
After their 5-0 win in the first week, Atlas looks to repeat the victory, and hopefully the score line, against Cruz Azul.
Cruz Azul tied with Chivas in their first game and no doubt will be looking for their first win of the tournament against Atlas, however, they will be playing in the same stadium , El Jalisco and hopefully the fans will make this game as difficult for Cruz Azul as last week.
More thing to note are the rumors that Depor are looking at new captain Diego Colotto, with interest in adding him to the squad. Apparently Guardado has been saying some very nice things about his former teammates over in Spain. Both Atlas president and Colotto say that these are just rumours and that all focus is on the game against Cruz Azul.
The spotlight will be on this game thanks to the announcement that coach Eriksson will be attending the game and chatting with coach Brindisi.
Prediction: Atlas 3 – 1 Cruz Azul
(No FIFA predictions until 09 comes out)

Ouch. That was a painful loss. Big villain was Bottinelli….with his bone-headed stupid dive.

Also a perfect example of why it’s often frustrating to be an Atlas fan
