Preview: Atlas vs. Lanus

By: Alan | April 27th, 2008

AtlasI’m going to be completely honest, I have no idea who Lanus is. I know they’re an Argentinean team that’s not Boca Juniors or River Plate and that’s about it.

However, hopefully Atlas knows more about them than I do, as they will be facing them on Tuesday in their next Copa Libertadores game. Lanus advanced out of the group stage with 10 points, while Atlas finished with 11. Atlas also had a better goal differential in the group stage, +5 to Lanus’ +3.

Lanus is the current Argentinean league champs, and Atlas hasn’t wont the mexican tournament, well in a long time. However, none of this impresses Bruno Marioni who says that they played the likes of Colo Colo and Boca Juniors and came out on top of the group.

Atlas tied their last Copa Libertadores game and their last domestic tournament game too. Because of this, and because I haven’t really seen Lanus play I’m going to make a conservative prediction and say the tie streak will continue.

My Prediction: Atlas 0 - 0 Lanus
