Preview: Atlas vs. Santos

By: Alan | April 12th, 2008

Atlas CarThis Sunday Atlas will face the group leader, Santos Laguna, in their week 14 game. Atlas have a chance to retake the number 2 spot in the group and they know winning this game would get them closer to qualifying for the playoffs. Atlas is coming off a win against Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores, while Santos is coming off a tie in their last game of the Mexican tournament.

Unfortunately Atlas will be without Achucarro or Medivil, both being out due to injury. However, Marioni has been stepping up, he scored twice against Boca Juniors. Santos Laguna count on Oswaldo Sanchez, who was the starting keeper for the national team last in their last friendly game against Ghana and is conceding about a goal per game. I’m predicting a tough game that gets bogged down in the midfield but I’m seeing Atlas capitalize on a mistake to take the game.

My Prediction: Atlas 1 - 0 Santos Laguna
FIFA 08 Prediction: Atlas 2 - 4 Santos Laguna

Whatever the score I think it will be a great game to watch since they are both teams with offensive styles. I just hope the irregularity of the league doesn’t kill the enthusiasm
