Shaky Start

A lot of things went far from ideal in Atlas’ first game of the Clausura tournament, but the worst of all was starting of the season with a 2-1 loss to Jaguares.
Atlas kicked off the Clausura 2009 tournament in the Estadio Victor Manuel Reyna against Jaguares de Chiapas. Both teams are in Group 3 which makes the loss that much more sour. Atlas also finished the game with 10 men on account of Darvin Chavez accumulating two yellows in the 59th minute.
The silver lining in all of this, and it’s extremely hard to see one, is that Bruno Marioni scored Atlas’ only goal in the 74th minute. At least it’s good to see that Marioni is hitting his stride, having scored in the Interliga as well.
Atlas’ next game is against Cruz Azul who tied with Chivas 3-3.
