Summer Story Wrap Up
By: Alan | July 24th, 2009
In an attempt to make up for the lack of posts recently I’m going to give a recap of some of the summer stories I missed out on and while they may be late they are still relevant and worthy of discussion.
First, and this above all else shows how out of the loop I am on things, Bruno Marioni is out on loan to the club-formerly-known as Tecos. I have no idea when that happened but it seems that he is on loan and I’m sure we all know why. Marioni had made some comments that he wasn’t being paid, then Coach Aguirre made some comments back, long story short he is now with Estudiantes. One of the reasons I had no idea when this happened is that there was no news on the official site about this, so it seems that things haven’t been patched up between Atlas and Marioni.
Next, there have been some injuries through the pre-season most notably that of Dario Botinelli who is doubtful for this Saturday’s opener against last tournament’s champion, Pachuca. Mario Perez and Nestor Vidrio has short injuries but have since returned to the team and are available for Saturday. Also, due to a weird teammate on teammate injury, Hebert Alferez was kicked in the eye by Darvin Chavez during a training session. There has been no news to assume that this injury is serious but doctors are going to wait for the swelling to stop before making a more thorough check.
Lastly, Atlas have posted pictures of the presentation of the team for the new tournament on their facebook page. Here are a couple of the spotlights:
