SuperLiga 2009 Player List
By: Alan | June 19th, 2009
Atlas has released the list of players that will be making the trip to the United States to play in the SuperLiga for a chance to win $1 M and a spot in the Copa Libertadores.
Player List:
- Francisco Canales
- Gerardo Gallardo
- Jesús Paganoni
- Diego Campos
- Hugo Ayala
- Néstor Vidrio
- Gerardo Espinoza
- Darvin Chávez
- Ricardo Jiménez
- Jorge Torres Nilo
- Carlos Gutiérrez Armas
- René Alonso Zamora
- Luis Robles
- Miguel Zepeda
- Hebert Alférez
- Edgar Pacheco
- Darío Botinelli
- Flavio Santos
- Sergio Vizcarra
- Saúl Villalobos
Only two of Atlas’ summer acquisitions will be making the trip north of the border: Miguel Zepeda and Gerardo Espinoza. The rest of the summer additions will stay in Guadalajara for physical training. An interesting name on the list is Dario Botinelli, whose future with Atlas is questionable due to supposed foreign interest. However, it seems that Botinelli will remain a Zorro at least until the end of the SuperLiga, perhaps he’s using this tournament to see whether he wants to stay with Atlas.
The rest of the Atlas team traveling to the US is made up of reserve and home farm players that will be eager to show coach LaVolpe that they have what it takes to play for the first team once the Apertura tournament kicks in.
Atlas will play Kansas City Wizards, Santos, and New England Revolution in the 2009 SuperLiga campaign.
Update: Big ups to KC blogger Herschel for pointing out that you can watch the games at the SuperLiga website as well as on Telefutura for those of you in the states.
